BetterLesson is a social network for teachers looking to transform the way teachers connect, communicate, and collaborate.  We are backed by San Francisco-based NewSchools Venture Fund and have been recently featured in MA High Tech, Cnet, DigitalJournal, and Scholastic.com

We are expanding our private beta, and we are looking for technical startup folks to work directly with the CTO, project manager, product manager and a senior web developer. Other positions are avaliable for interns with an interest in Education and Technology.

Senior PHP Developer

Web Developer / Designer

Our site is growing quickly, and with it, many new features are on the way. We need some one like you to help us make these features user-friendly and beautiful.

Our wish-list for you is:

  • excellent CSS/HTML skills
  • stupendous Javascript skills (jQuery preferred)
  • some PHP
  • Photoshop/Fireworks/In-Design
  • tremendous communication skills
  • immense documentation skills (Specs, Wireframes, Comps, Diagramming)
  • ability to self motivate and self manage while playing on a team
  • imagination

We'll have more fun if you might have on your resume some of the following assets and skills:

  • a CS, UX, MultiMedia and/or Design degree
  • Balsamiq/Omnigraffle/Visio/ etc
  • experience at a tech startup
  • familiarity in optimizing designs and UX via qualitative and quantitative methods
  • a sense of humor and focus under pressure

Internships

BetterLesson Intern/Fall Associate

BetterLesson is an online platform for teachers to build, organize, and share curriculum materials with other teachers--we've been referred to as somewhere between "Facebook for teachers" and "Youtube for lessons." We have been featured on CNet.com, MA High Tech, DigitalJournal, and Scholastic.com. 

Job Description:

 Participate in all aspects of an internet startup including:

- Product development
- Educator outreach and community building
- Social Media Marketing
- Content creation and tagging 

Experience / Skills needed:

  •  Excited to transform the way teachers organize and share their curriculum
  • Highly organized
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem solving skills

Hours: 10-15 hrs/wk

Location:  We are looking for on-site interns in the Boston and San Francisco areas.  We will accept applications for remote internships from other locations.
